INTRODUCTION
In a chapel converted from the vicinity of the holy cave of Bethlehem should be read in the antiphon 'O' engraved with their beginnings (O Wisdom, O Lord, O Root of Jesse, O Key David, O rising Star, O King of nations, Emmanuel O) in two columns, which frame a space, where the shrine is located. That chapel in Bethlehem is the last time in the development that has been brought to the cave where he had lived in St. Jerome. Two thoughts came to penetrate each other: one of the antiphons, first suggested by the words of them, engraved on the pillars, and that of Jerome, whose presence is felt after centuries in the cave. But the antiphons are not Jerome, nor of his time. They belong to that world of the Bible which Jerome is the prince acknowledged by everyone. In the pagan world, the figure of the king belonged to the sphere of the divine.
